"Bringing Old Friends Together To Present Christ Through Music And Song"

Ron Cummings

Ron Cummings was a much loved and appreciated member of our Homecoming Gospel Choir family for 7 years. On Mother's Day of 2009, just a few weeks after our spring tour concluded, Ron was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Following surgery, Ron returned to the Homecoming stage to sing with us for our summer tour and a portion of our fall tour. On December 19, 2009, Ron lost his brief, but valiant, battle with cancer. He loved singin', and Ruth Ann, singin', and Kevin and Rhonda, singin', and family, singin, and church, singin', and restoring antique cars, singin', the upholstery business; and, O, yes, did I mention singin'! Ron loved to sing! And, he had a wonderful gift for presenting a gospel song in a manner that truly moved and motivated his audience. And, though he will be greatly missed by all of us, we'll keep on singin', anticipating that great Homecoming when we shall all meet again and once more be reunited in song and in fellowship.

For your enjoyment, we have included a clip of Ron singing a song that he sang on the Homecoming stage on a nightly basis for over 3 years. This clip was filmed on March 1, 2009, at the Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, IL., just a couple of months before he was diagnosed with cancer.

In addition to Ron Cummings, the voices of eleven other members of the Homecoming Gospel Choir were added to the Heavenly Choir during our first decade. They include: Richard Lamb, Paul Wright, Jesse Plog, Hack Wilson, Lawrence Brown, Dee Lamb Woodward, Dena Keller Smith, Tom Wielt, Frances Durham, Harley Pearson, and Karen Gesell. Each was appreciated and is fondly remembered for their contribution to the ministry.
